Dear George,

I am sorry to hear you didn't get any mail from home but you should have received at lease one from Dad. He wrote a day or two after you left for Ga. I Guess you have had some mail by now. Grace was up Sunday and she says she hadn't heard from you and hopes you are well.

Well Saturday was some rainy day and Dad left for to spend 4 days in the bungalow. He has the wall board for the new addition and thought he could put it on but he only got the walls covered over the weekend. He could not manage the big pieces for the ceiling above so he rolled in about 10 PM Sunday night.

We are all glad to hear of your new promotion and sure feel proud of the advancement you made since you are in the Army. That new insignia must give a little color to the uniform.

I have something new added to the porch decorations too. Aunt Bessie came in Friday on a short visit and brought me a service flag for the window. Luckily I just had the windows cleaned so I put it right up. She brought one for Aunt Annie and for Joseph Blaser's mother too.

Vincent was home for 5 days last week and he says from now on he'll only get one day a month. She says he seemed changed and stayed home all the time which is very unusual for him. She thinks it's the job he has is making him that way. They have to keep to themselves and can't mix with the men where he is. I don't think he likes that very much as he always had a lot of friends and a good time.

Well George I don't know any news as the only one I've seen is Aunt Bessie and then she didn't stay but 1/2 hr. or so. I guess Gene will write tonight. He had a busy day Sunday, he went to N.Y. with those two boys from Newhaven and I came home about 10:30 PM all tired out. He got paid for two weeks with overtime Friday and had a bank roll of $50.00. Not bad is it? I guess I'll let him tell you about it in his letter. So with lotsof love from everyone. Until next time I close with love,

Mother

P.S. I have to buy paper. This is the best I had in the house at present. I forgot to ask you. Do you still share that room with those two fellows or will you be moving nearer to you new job?
