Dear George,
We received your letter Monday and were very glad you arrived safe.

You people in the south are having quite some snow according to the papers. We have considerable rain up here, the night you left was terribly stormy. Just now it's a typical Spring day. So was Sunday. We went for a ride and landed out in Mastic. Dad took a picture of the house + I'll send one to you.
Did you miss the folks in Macon since your back?
I haven't seen anyone lately so I haven't anything to write about and besides I seem to have lost my writing and spelling mood since you were home.
You must have that letter about the income tax Dad sent. He inquired about it and its best to pay it this year instead of letting it slide just fill it out he'll pay it and then when you come home and everything is over, you'll be starting in a new job with nothing to worry you.
I was sorry to hear about your two friends and hope they will recover soon. How is your cold? Better I hope, take care of it. Your Father finally went to the doctors after you left + he said it was the grippe + now Gene has a touch of it. He's some sport he took us to the movies last week and for ice cream afterwards. We saw One Foot in Heaven + Your In The Army Now, they were both good.
He is getting home about 6:30 lately and seems in better humor. I guess he'll be writing you some night soon.
I'll have to write to those people in Macon + thank them for me when you see them for me. Grace told me she has written them last week.
Well I guess I'll close now so there is no more to tell you just now son with care from all.
Mother
