Dear George,
Hello jelly bean, first I want to thank you for the money you sent and I thank you very, very much. I hope you know that your the best brother a feller could have, so if you don't know it I'm telling you now.
I'm as proud of you as I can be "Corporal" if you keep up like this you will drive the tailor crazy sewing chevrons.
This is my third attempt at writing to you, I always start but never finish. I'm going to try real hard to keep the post man you sent very busy. I like the new drawing of you in your Army car.
A week or two ago I bought eight records. Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S Pinafore and the "Pirates of Penzance" and some others I think I'll get Macbeth with my birthday present, once again.. Thank You.
Tonight when I got home there was your card, one from Grace, Aunt Grace, John and guess who else, Mrs. Stalnaker, will you please thank her for it, for me, or do you think I should write a letter.
I got plans for this summer, I'm going to buy a boat, I've enough money to get a real good one, one that I can rig up a nice, good size sail, no use of me row'in when I can be gone with the wind HUH!
You really don't know how bad I feel about not being able to keep in steady contact with you, but I want to tell you again that there is not one single day goes by that I don't think of you, trying to imagine what you are doing. There is a swell cake in front of me here on the parlor table. I got paid today, I'll be able to have a silver plated anchor on my boat.
I think I'll name it after you or Corporal, or the "Unsinkable George". It seems no one up here thinks it is a compliment to have a boat named after them, they think it is an insult, so don't you be insulted. I won't charge you a benny, It's my honor.
The pictures you wanted are here, I'm getting sleepy, so I guess I'll go to bed now. So long for awhile George, so that you again and remember I'm always with you. Thank you once more and I'll try to write real soon.
So long,
Loads and Loads of Love,
Gene,
"Happy Easter"
