EDITORS NOTE: This mailing to George Lutz is unique because it contained multiple letters. One from Mary Kelly, who I believe is the fiancé of one of George's fellow soldiers at Camp Wheeler. In addition, a newspaper clipping is included.

Hello Honey!
I received your letter with the snaps enclosed and I'll sow them to family when I go up the end of the week. I sent Gene a birthday card but won't be able to get up there on Tuesday as I have a club meeting at my house.
Honey I heard that little message at 11:30 on my birthday. I was so busy working that I almost forgot what time it was until my ears started to "ring". I quickly looked up at the clock and sure enough it was 11:30.
That friend that you told me about that has a husband at Camp, did she have to take a test like we do up here, and what does she do? That's nice pay.
This morning was an eventful one. I won't spoil the news for Mary as she wrote you a note and asked me to forward it to you, so here it is. Isn't that swell?
We were asked to pick our vacation today and I wanted May 18 and 25, but it looks as if I'll have to settle for the week of the 11th and the 18th. That makes it one week earlier than I expected.
Pop was to appear for jury duty today, so he went and told them that he was doing defense work and he doesn't have to appear for it.
I read in the paper today that before the week is out, the soldiers will be able to write home without paying for postage, so don't buy anymore stamps. Here's part of the article.
Be good, sweetheart, cause I love you a heap. I'l write you again tomorrow.
Love,
Grace
According to North, servicemen will inscribe the word "Free" in the upper right hand corner of their letters, where the stamp is normally placed. In the upper left hand corner each will write the sender's name and is military or naval regulations permit, his unit. The Postoffice will do the rest, picking the letters up, transporting them and delivering them- Absolutely free.
Bonus Letter:
Monday
Dear George
So I hear Congratulations are in order. Well I wish you many more stripes, and hope that the army treats you well. Grace was telling me you were made a Corporal, maybe before long you will be Captain and then you will need a secretary. So you can have my fellow. No doubt Grace will tell you of my good fortune. Richie is being transferred to Fort Jay (or Grey) and has qualified for a secretary to the Colonel. Some stuff eh. I hope given (unreadable) the breaks are with you and I'll add yours to my list of prayers. I'll close now hoping to hear soon that you have been made Sergeant and as for the (unknown) tell you've got to be a Colonel. So long till I see you on your next Furlough.
Fruman (Unreadable) as ever
Mary Kelly
